Peer Review Process
Peer Review Process
The peer review process at Gontor AGROTECH Science Journal consists of the following steps:
1. Initial Screening The editorial team performs an initial screening to assess the
manuscript's suitability regarding the journal’s scope, author guidelines, formatting, and
completeness.
2. Similarity Check Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are checked using Turnitin.
GASJ sets a maximum similarity threshold of 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this
threshold may be returned to the authors for revision and/or clarification. Note: The
similarity report is evaluated by the editorial team because a similarity score does not
automatically imply plagiarism. If plagiarism or other breaches of publication ethics are
detected, the editorial team will take appropriate action in accordance with the journal's
publication ethics policy.
3. Appointment of Reviewers Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent
reviewers with expertise matching the manuscript's subject matter. Reviewers are
selected based on academic expertise, research area, and ability to provide objective,
constructive evaluations.
4. Double-Blind Peer Review Reviewers evaluate originality, methodology, scientific
validity, results, discussion, references, and alignment with the journal's scope.
5. Revision Based on reviewer comments and recommendations, the editor may request
that the author revise the manuscript. Authors must address all comments thoroughly and
submit the revised manuscript within the timeframe specified by the editorial team.
6. Second Review If necessary, the revised manuscript may be sent back to the original
reviewers or to new reviewers for further evaluation to ensure that all comments and
recommendations have been adequately addressed.
7. Editorial Decision The editor or editorial team makes the final decision based on
reviewer recommendations, manuscript quality, author revisions, and other relevant
editorial considerations. Possible decisions:
○ Accept: Accepted for publication.
○ Minor Revision: Requires minor changes prior to acceptance.
○ Major Revision: Requires substantial revision and may undergo additional review
rounds.
○ Reject: Fails to meet scientific, ethical, editorial, or scope requirements.
8. Final Proofreading Accepted manuscripts undergo a final proofreading phase before
publication. Authors may be requested to review the final version, including author
names/order, title, abstract, tables, figures, references, formatting, and typographical
errors. At this stage, only minor corrections are allowed; substantial changes to the
content are prohibited without prior approval from the editor.
9. Publication Upon completion of final proofreading and all editorial procedures, the
manuscript is scheduled for publication in the designated issue of GASJ.
